Project Managers Aren’t Failing — Leadership Is.

Everyone keeps saying “PMs need to improve.” No!

Organizations need to stop sabotaging their own projects.

Let’s be honest — most PMs aren’t struggling because they lack skill. They’re struggling because they’re trapped in systems that reward chaos and punish discipline.

The Real Reasons Projects Collapse

  1. • No governance — PMs are told to “just get it done,” but no one defines what “done” means.
  2. • No authority — expected to lead without decision power, budget control, or sponsor backing.
  3. • No stability — every re‑org resets priorities, every new leader rewrites the playbook.
  4. • No clarity — strategy changes weekly, leaving PMs chasing moving targets.
  5. • No protection — PMs take the blame for leadership indecision, not delivery failure.

The Hard Truth

Projects don’t fail because PMs are weak. They fail because leadership refuses to build systems that let PMs succeed.

A strong PM can’t save a broken culture. A weak sponsor can destroy a perfect plan. And AI tools won’t fix human accountability.

The Challenge

If you’re a PM reading this, stop apologizing for leadership failures. Start documenting them. Start exposing them. Start leading upward — because silence is complicity.

Let’s talk about what really breaks projects — and how PMs can fight back.
